As you may have heard already, Major League Baseball was considering placing ads for Spider-Man 2 on the bases of a few stadiums for a few days. (This plan has been already scrapped, it seems). A few thoughts:
- Man, I didn't think some people would get this upset over this issue. There's tradition, and there's superstition, and then there's "dammit, get OVER it already, wouldja?" - Advertising at baseball stadiums is not a new thing. Someone just found a couple square feet of space that wasn't already slathered with ads. Besides, I think it'd be kinda cool to be associated with Spider-Man. I mean, how masculine can you feel if you're playing at PETCO Park? - Not that I'm a baseball traditionalist or anything that extreme, but I think if I had to weigh in on the issue, I would vote against the ads. I wouldn't have been bothered by them, either. However, if the ads were to go on the bases, I think they could've chosen something a little more appropriate than Spider-Man 2. This movie does not need the extra promotion. Seriously. It will be released, and it will make a huge amount of money.
